Jem Sirrine serves as the Team Lead for the PGA/ECR team in International Customs Clearance at FedEx Logistics, located in Memphis, Tennessee. He has been with the company for nearly three years, and during this time, he has proven to be an invaluable leader. His primary responsibilities include ensuring the compliance of all international shipments with governmental regulations, managing the training and development of new agents, and addressing any challenges that arise in the clearance process. He is also tasked with troubleshooting issues involving high-value shipments and collaborating with teams across FedEx to address delays and ensure timely resolution. His expertise and leadership are instrumental in providing the team with a smooth and efficient operation, helping drive FedEx’s commitment to excellence in customs clearance.

Jem’s athletic training career began after earning his bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University. His first professional experience came as an athletic training intern for the Cleveland Indians in Winter Haven, Florida. This internship allowed him to work with minor and major league players, assisting with rehabilitating injuries and contributing to player recovery. His work helped him develop the foundational skills that would serve him throughout his career in sports medicine.

After completing his internship, Jem pursued further education at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He worked there as a graduate assistant athletic trainer, earning his Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology. During this time, he gained more experience working with athletes, helping them recover from injuries and improving their performance through strength-building exercises and injury-prevention strategies.

In 2000, Jem took on the role of assistant athletic trainer at Winter Park High School, where he worked alongside the head athletic trainer to provide coverage for all varsity and junior varsity sports. His responsibilities included performing pre-practice treatments, managing rehabilitation outside school hours, and supervising athletic training interns. Additionally, he played an essential role in educating students by teaching Personal Health and Fitness, Weight Training, and Team Sports courses. His ability to blend hands-on training with educational initiatives made him a valuable asset to the school.

Jem’s next opportunity came when he was appointed Head Athletic Trainer at Warner University in Lake Wales, Florida. In this position, he was responsible for 16 varsity sports, overseeing the athletic training program and coordinating pre-participation physicals for athletes. He managed the department’s budget, handled the procurement of supplies and equipment, and negotiated with vendors to ensure the university’s athletic programs had the necessary resources. He also worked closely with orthopedic surgeons to build a stronger Sports Medicine team. He contributed as an adjunct faculty member, teaching courses in Athletic Training, First Aid and CPR, and Therapeutic Modalities.

Following his time at Warner University, Jem took on the role of Athletic Trainer at Bond Clinic in Winter Haven, Florida. During his four years with the clinic, he worked on expanding the orthopedic department by fostering relationships with local schools and establishing new partnerships. He provided athletic training services to educational institutions and managed patient intake and evaluations. He also coordinated rehabilitation and oversaw the Physical Therapy Department’s insurance billing.

Jem’s next position was at Southeastern University (SEU) in Lakeland, Florida, where he spent 11 years as the Head Athletic Trainer. Under his leadership, the Athletic Training Department grew to include eight certified athletic trainers. He managed the department’s budget, recruited physicians to join the Sports Medicine team, and collaborated with architects to design new athletic training facilities. He also worked closely with insurance companies to negotiate policies and developed mandatory screenings for Sickle Cell traits and cardiac abnormalities for all student-athletes. Jem’s work at SEU was instrumental in improving the overall health and safety of the athletic programs and ensuring that athletes received the best care possible.
